The house that we rented on Solaiappa Mudali street belonged to a rich man, a dharmakarta of the Keshavaperumal temple which was on the same street. This was a “tengalai” temple, though we were all more attached to the Srinivasaperumal temple (which was a vadagalai temple). However, the owner was a kind man and he would get a lot of prasadams from the tengalai temple which he would distribute to all the kids free of charge. We never had shortage of tasty temple prasadams to fill our belly during that time. I remember that I used to daily receive the prasadam wearing only a loincloth (komanam / kowpinam).
